Otaku
――――One day, Linda and Kitty and Angela were drinking juice at STARBACKS.
Angela:This juice is very good.
Kitty:Yes, by the way. It is Otaku over there, Isn’t it?
Linda:What’s Otaku?
Angela:Don’t you know?“Otaku”is a person who loves cartoon character too much, and they put on same costume that their favorite character’s one.Have you ever seen one?
Linda:Yes, that reminds me of something. Ⅰsaw Otaku at Akihabara in Tokyo.
They bought poster and figure of cartoon. Ⅰfeel their fashion is unclean and old fashion.
Kitty:Ⅰfeel they are nasty. Ⅰdon’t want to be friends with Otaku.
Angela:Ⅰam told that there is one Otaku-man in one hundred people.
Linda:Well, are they Otaku over there? They wear strange costume like Spider-man.
Kitty:There are Otaku here and there!
Angela:Possibly, are we in a “MEIDO-KISSA”!?
We mistaken! Here is not STARBUCKS but “MEIDO-KISSA”!
――――“MEIDO-KISSA”is also a coffee shop. The girl who wears strange costume (for example, like rabbit, cat, angel.) works in “MEIDO-KISSA”. They go to meet for otaku-men. Many Otaku come and visit this shop.

We can otaku "nerds" or "geeks" in England. In England otaku are different than in Japan. Here they play lots of computer games or know a lot of things about computers. They don't got out a lot and drink or party. But not everyone who plays games is called a geek. And some geeks do go out a lot. I know this because I am one :)!
I think that most people do not mind geeks in England. We are treated same as everyone else, but we are generally smarter than most people ;). Everyone always asks me for help on the computer ^_^.

I think you girls use a very interesting way to introduce Otaku to people. :)
Dear Linda, Kitty, and Angela,
I agree with h.t. chien. I think you have helped me understand something. There is a young woman in my building who dresses like an old-time child movie star named Shirley Temple. She rides the same train at the same time every day, so I thought she had a job, but I could not imagine what kind of job. Maybe she works in a meido-kissa. It's very interesting, but I'm glad my daughter is not dressing like that!

Here in Canada I think there are more "Otaku" girls than guys. Japanese culture is very popular and a lot of young people love Japan and anything that has to do with Japan. Many want to teach in Japan just to buy more anime :P

thank you for your comment.
Japanese Otaku play lots of computer games or know a lot of things about computer too.
But Japanese woman doesn't ask for help on the computer.
they ask a trade association to repair.

Dear Kitty, Linda and Angela:
Yes, I can tell what you wrote is only a fiction. I only say your way to introduce Otaku is interesting, not meaning what you described is a true story. By the way, you are doing great and I'm still looking forward to your new postings on Japan. :)
Have a nice day.
H.T.
Hahaha!
=3
We Americans who love Anime and Japanese culture tend to refer to ourselves as Otaku or American Otaku.
We have many conventions throughout the states were we do Cosplay and all the American Otaku gather. We go crazy when we get to see popular Japanese animators, directors and producers for our favorite anime!
We call people with overly-specialized love for anything a "geek" or "nerd" ("geek" is a word we use for obsessive people who like video games or roleplaying, and "nerd" is someone who is really smart in school and spends all their time learning or talking about school, like Umino from Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon!), or Otaku if they are obsessed with Japanese anime, manga or jpop.
I wish we had a meido-kissa here! I would love to visit one =3
I love japanese anime and manga too! They are the best. Although, I'm not as obsessed or weird as what you would call Otaku..hehe thanks for teaching me that new word today.
I like your blog, keep posting!

Contrary to what some of these people would like you to believe, Japanese culture is only popular with a small percentage of our society. Yes, there are a lot who like Anime, but they are not crazy about it.
